Scott Thurber selected as Vistage CEO Board Chair
Vistage International, the world’s leading CEO membership organization, has named Scott Thurber of East Greenwich, RI as a Vistage CEO Board Chair in the Providence, RI area. Thurber joins a community of more than 13 Vistage Group Chairs and nearly 172 members in the greater Boston/Providence metropolitan areas. Vistage member companies in the greater Boston/Providence area employ more than 25,000 employees and generate more than $5.4 billion in revenues.
In this position, Thurber will be responsible for leading a group of CEOs and business owners who meet monthly to share confidential, unbiased feedback with one another to address members’ most important business challenges.
Thurber will also serve as an executive coach, meeting individually with each group member to provide accountability and support to improve the member’s business performance and personal leadership skills.
Thurber brings over 28 years of experience in customer-facing leadership roles in the chemicals, semiconductor and defense industries. He received a master’s degree in business administration from Lehigh University; a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University and, as President of his own consulting firm Advantech Business Builders, Inc., has helped technical companies develop and implement strategies to grow revenues and profits. His strengths include strategic planning and marketing, product management, business development and international business in addition to group leadership and executive coaching, which are both core competencies required by Vistage for its Group Chairs. Six Business Owners Join to Provide Guidance to Entrepreneurs
Six area business owners - Scott Thurber of Advantech Business Builders, David Kellogg of Kellogg Associates, Bill Stone of Outside GC, Andy Cutler of Cutler and Company, Jack Simpson of Business Innovation Group and Barbara Jackson of Your Career Doctors - have joined together to create the non-profit organization E3 (Entrepreneurs Enabling Entrepreneurs). E3 provides broad cross-functional expertise to entrepreneurs and small business owners. Together the six principals bring over one hundred fifty years of business experience to the table to help entrepreneurs solve their biggest issues, blind spots and needs in focused one to two hour meetings at a nominal cost. 2006 Undersea Human Systems Integration Symposium
The 2006 Undersea Human Systems Integration (HSI) Symposium was conducted at the Hilton Mystic in Mystic, CT on June 6-8, 2006. The Symposium was sponsored by the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, the Office of Naval Research, the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory, Submarine Development Squadron 12, and the Tech Collective, and was directed by Advantech Business Builders, Inc. Over 130 participants from the US Navy, industry and academia attended from across the country to hear from the leading researchers, practitioners and Navy program managers in the Undersea HSI field. Discussions on strategies and program priorities with senior NAVSEA personnel capped the event. Based on the success of this event, keep your eyes open for the 2008 Undersea HSI Symposium.
